Having watched a recent 60 Minutes report "Point of No Return" relating to stories about child abduction, we were concerned about the misinformation in this report but also the narrative.
In particular, in one part of the report, one interviewee was asked "how many mothers who have fled domestic violence have you seen actually keep their child?”, one of the interviewees answered, "none."
This is highly irresponsible journalism. It sends a message to victims of family violence that they have no legal options to protect themselves and their children and it may stop victims seeking timely and important legal advice.
